This week Facebook has made a bold decision to ban all ads which relate to Cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and ICOs – or any binary options for that matter.
The thought process is that ads breach Facebook’s new company policy which relates to delivering “financial products and services frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”
The Crypto industry has been at the forefront of the news recently, over the last few months the cryptocurrency markets have seen drastic movements with some record-breaking highs. Bitcoin’s volatile market has been one of the most popular talking points.
What does the ban mean for your company?
No company will be able to promote cryptocurrency content via the Facebook advertising network according to Facebook’s blog.
Ads will be banned on the Facebook App and anywhere else where Facebook sells ads, this includes Instagram and its advertising network, Audience Network, which distributes ads on third-party apps/sites.
Facebook is expecting some backlash from genuine companies operating in the binary options markets, they have already expressed frustration to this recent news as they may use Facebook as a key source of advertising and lead generation for their business.
